Final Project

Day One (1/8/2014)

We set out on this Project with high Spirits and large Rations. We set Bertha up on the left Side of Station 13 and plugged her into the Monitor. After completing this Task we sat down to some prandial Rations of Sausages and Beans. We booted Bertha up to a Background of a high Kitten. We then opened up the Terminal to bravely attempt a manual Update. The Machine proceeded to then demand a Password, the Password was Password itself. The Code used to launch the Update was “sudo apt-get update”, a simple yet effective Command to update all Apps installed through the Ubuntu Software Center and other Applications with “update” instructions that are a part of the Ubuntu System(applications Endorsed directly by the Ubuntu team). Jared then tried to open up a Program his attempt was met with resistance from the Computer and ultimately Failed. He did not let this discourage him as he tried again and this time got the Correct Code.He successfully installed “SL” and then went to do many Updates as the System Built Packages on Top of each other and was able to download more information for the machine. Jared then Proceeded to type the command sl in the command line and ran it. The command made it so a train made out of many digits appeared and had an animation caused by symbols changing places on the screen. The only legitimate purpose of this was to assess if the system was capable of handling a Task like such and had the Computing Power to do so. The Task was simple yet fundamental to what he was preparing to do the next Day.

Day Two (1/10/2014)

We booted Bertha up to the Salutations of a smiling Cat. Immediately after activation Bertha crashed. We discovered Bertha has 64 bit conditioning. We then proceeded to onto the Internet to select a suitable Software to Support the Virtual Machine. We also installed Graphical Disk Map which allowed us to look at all the Files and their Size.  We then proceeded to Upgrade the Machine a Grueling Task that could take Hours in some Circumstances. Process took about Half an Hour.

Day Three (1/13/2014)

Jared and I awoke Bertha and changed her Background. Jared has brought in a VM from home on a Flash Drive. We then put the VM on the Machination. A Problem arose we could not figure out how to run VMware. We tried looking through the System many times before we could find how to run the VMware. We then decided to install N-map  to help us. Finally we found the code to access the VMware and installed it. After this we installed the GUI for UFW.

Day Four(1/14/2014)

“Hazah” Cried the Troops; our VM was working. We booted it up and let it update.  To download software we went to the software center and clicked on audacity to download. We installed Pithos a Pandora app into the new VM.

Day Five(1/15/2014)

The machine had failed again… time to quit. We rebooted the “Lu” since it was being unhelpful and was not working with Bertha. We installed the browser “Chromium” the father of Chrome on the Ubuntu VM. We got Three Programs; SL, Coway, and Cowthink.
